Pilsen is 19th-century brick two- and three-flats, workers cottages, and storefront buildings along 18th Street, with the National Museum of Mexican Art and the murals that define the neighborhood. The South Loop and the Prairie District, east of the Dan Ryan, are loft conversions in the old printing houses, new high-rises along Michigan and Indiana, and townhomes near the museums and the lake. Motor Row and Chinatown sit between them.

Getting around: the Pink Line at 18th and Damen, the Red, Green, and Orange Lines at Roosevelt, the Metra at 18th Street, and the Dan Ryan and Stevenson expressways. The lakefront, Soldier Field, and the Museum Campus are the South Loop's front yard.
